Next responded
Thank you for contacting Next regarding the Uyghur Forced Labour Prevention Act. We are pleased to provide a response as follows:
- Is Next applying a single global standard, aligned with the legal requirements set forth in the UFLPA, to exclude Uyghur forced labour across its supply chains and to not bifurcate its supply chains?
Next: We have a Cotton Sourcing Policy which bans the use of cotton from Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and the Xinjiang region of China due to the forced labour situation in farming and at harvest.
- Is Next committed to not re-exporting goods detained under the auspices of the UFLPA to other markets?
Next: Our approach is to ensure that the product imported into the US meets the requirements of the UFLPA.
- If Next is committed to the above statements, how is it implementing these commitments?
Next: We have a partnership with Oritain who are a forensic traceability partner, with whom we have formalised a risk management due diligence testing programme.
- If Next is not committed to a single global standard, how is it ensuring that goods imported into markets other than the United States are not tainted?
Next: N/A - see above
