Siemens response
As a result of the Ukraine war, Siemens started proceedings in April 2022 to wind down its operations and all business activities in Russia. In this context, all new business was discontinued immediately. Some existing orders were still processed in accordance with regulatory requirements and international sanctions, in order to fulfil contractual obligations.
We cannot confirm any deliveries by Siemens AG to Russia after beginning of 2023. Siemens has not delivered any sanctioned goods to Russia. To ensure this, we have established – already a long time ago – a very robust, highly automated control system and a highly specialized global team of experts that reliably prevents circumvention of the sanctions. We have always made it very clear that we act in accordance with international sanctions and do not compromise on compliance. We comply with applicable law, the applicable export control guidelines, and the applicable sanctions laws. Our supply contracts include a clause in which our customers obligate themselves to comply with all export control regulations when using products, we’ve supplied. Siemens will not – under any circumstances – tolerate the circumvention of sanctions. If we receive any indications of circumvention, we will investigate these immediately and involve the necessary and relevant authorities. Since the beginning of the war, we have proactively reported numerous such incidents, which have been identified by our control systems, to the relevant authorities.
