Bergan’s response to allegations of abuses in Myanmar garment factories - October 2024 Update

[...]

The events and misconduct listed in the articles in one of the North Shore Global (NSG) factories were well known to us when the report was published and have occurred repeatedly in the past. We have joined forces with other European outdoor companies who also produce at the factory and worked for a long period of time to improve the conditions. But despite intensive dialogue, repeated urgent requests to our partner to remedy the situation and different supporting training measures, we could only observe limited improvement in working conditions. We therefore decided in the first half of 2023 to gradually withdraw from the factory and to end the collaboration with the supplier in a responsible manner. This will take places during autumn this year. Bergans maintains a close dialogue with Ethical Trade Norway and MADE Myanmar on all measures.
