ETI Sweden report finds high risk of forced labour in the production of trains and trams in China

In March 2024, Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) Sweden, in collaboration with four Swedish Public Transport Authorities, released a report on labour and human rights risks related to the production of trains and trams in China. The first part of the investigation identifies risks and alleged violations in the manufacturing of locomotive and rolling stock for trains and trams via social media posts from employees, while the second part maps possible state-imposed forced labour risks.

We invited 15 of the companies mentioned in the report to respond to its findings. Voith, Alstom-Bombardier, Knorr-Bremse, Grammer, Dellner and Siemens responded. CRRC, Victall, Dongfeng Motors, Shaanxi Automobile, Secheron, Daqo, KTK Group, CREG and Sany Group did not respond.
