Myanmar: Chevron withdraws from Yadana gas project; distributes interest to PTTEP & MOGE

Justice for Myanmar reported Chevron's exit in Myanmar stating that the company's interest "in the Yadana gas project has been redistributed to the remaining shareholders: Thailand’s PTTEP and Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE), the state-owned enterprise illegally seized by the junta through its 2021 attempted coup.” EarthRights International further stated that the company “exited Myanmar in an irresponsible manner, ensuring that the junta will continue misappropriating tens of millions of dollars in gas revenues each month”.

The Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Chevron, PTTEP, and MOGE to respond to the concerns raised by the civil society organisations. Only Chevron responded (linked below).
