Myanmar: Day labourers face multiple labour rights abuses at garment factory; incl. co. responses
In February 2024, it was reported that workers at Su Zhong Garment are facing a series of violations, including denial of permanent contracts for day labourers after three months, who face excessive production targets, denial of benefits such as leave incl. medical leave, verbal abuse, and illegal dismissal if they miss a day of work. Workers also reported denial of leave, excessive production targets so workers are unable to drink water or go to the toilet and unclean toilets for all workers.
In September 2024, Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Otto Group (for its Bonprix brand) and LPP (for its RESERVED brand) to respond. The responses can be found below.
