Myanmar: Workers at Hen Bo garment factory report multiple labour rights abuses incl. denial of medical leave & unhygienic working conditions; incl. co. response
In June 2023 it was reported that workers at the Hen Bo factory faced a series of violations including low pay and non-payment of holiday pay, excessive production targets and verbal abuse if workers fail to meet targets, dismissal if day labourers take leave and a warning if permanent workers take leave, denial of social security benefits, denial of medical leave, day labourers denied employment, limited access to clean drinking toilets and clean toilets, unreasonable working hours and workers forced to sleep in the factory due to working hours and limited ferries to transport workers home.
