Myanmar: Workers at Sunrise Myanmar garment factory reportedly face labour violations incl. abuse towards women workers, wage exploitation & denial of leave; incl. co. responses

In June 2022, it was reported that workers at Sunrise Myanmar factory were facing a number of violations at the factory, including verbal abuse towards women workers if targets are not met, harassment by supervisors, wage exploitation, denial of leave, mandatory overtime, arbitrary dismissal without reason or compensation, production targets set beyond what the workers can meet, no health and safety arrangements, such as emergency exits, and poor workplace facilities including hot and cold water. The factory reportedly denied workers permanent employment by hiring workers as daily wage workers and dismissing them within the probationary period.
