Sainsbury's response re allegations of violence at Del Monte pineapple farm

A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said, “We are not directly supplied by Del Monte but our suppliers use some ingredients from them.

“We expect the highest standards from our suppliers at every level of our supply chain with regards to the protection of workers’ rights. In cases where human rights violations are identified in our supply chain, we follow the guidance of the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights in our approach, including supporting suppliers to make sure that appropriate actions are being taken to address the issues in a timely and effective manner.

“We commit to supporting improvements in working practices throughout our supply chains and welcome these issues being raised.”
