So. Africa: Ground Up report says Lonmin claim it could not afford to honour agreement to build worker's housing undermined by International Finance Corporation loan
A Ground Up report claims that evidence presented at the Marikana Commission, shows that a loan of US$150mil was made available to Lonmin by the International Finance Corporation - part of it for a "large-scale community development programme". This, it is alleged, undermines Lonmin's claim that it could not afford to honour it's agreement to provide housing for workers. We invited Lonmin to respond to the allegations contained in the report. Lonmin's response is provided below:
