Tesco's response to allegations of abuses in Myanmar garment factories - Nov 2023 update

We ceased sourcing from Myanmar in Spring 2022 and do not work with the factory in question. We do work with Gainway in other countries and upon receipt of your enquiry, we contacted Gainway for more information. We understand that Gainway has been compliant with legal wage standards and responded positively to workers’ demands for a wage increase. Constructive collective bargaining discussions have been held between worker representatives and Gainway management in Myanmar, and Gainway has agreed to the wage level demanded by workers. This is in line with Tesco’s support for workers’ right to freedom of association and collective bargaining.
