Myanmar: Garment workers forced to show medical prescriptions to take any form of leave; incl. co. response
In November 2023, it was reported that workers at Karisma Apparel faced a series of violations, including workers being forced to show medical prescriptions to take any form of leave, wage cuts if workers take leave, workers not receiving their wages when the factory closed during a flood, the factory identifying workers who complain about working conditions through the labour office complaint hotline, and no transport provided for workers who work overtime, despite the long distance between the industrial zone and workers' homes, resulting in half of workers' wages going towards transport fees.
