Myanmar: Myanmar Lucky Fortune factory allegedly rejects worker votes for Workplace Coordination Committee to ensure employer-preferred candidates win; incl. co. responses
In February 2023, it was reported that workers at Myanmar Lucky Fortune Garment were facing a series of violations at the factory including excessive production targets, verbal abuse, mandatory and unpaid overtime, child labour and wage deductions if workers missed a day of work.
It was also reported that on 17 January 2023, the factory allegedly rejected votes at the Workplace Coordination Committee election if the workers did not vote for the labour representatives chosen by the factory employers.
In February 2023, Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Inditex and LPP S.A to respond, and in September 2024, we invited Workman to respond. The responses can be found below.
