In January 2023, Stuff and Human Resources Director reported women migrant workers employed by Anson Construction subcontractors protested unpaid wages outside Anson Construction in New Zealand. The workers allege they are owed over NZD 100,000 in unpaid wages. The workers claim they were not paid properly for two months.

The director of Anson Construction said he is taking legal advice and negotiating with the shareholders. He said he wanted more evidence from the subcontractors about their contracts.
