Qatar 2022: Amnesty International poll shows 73% of surveyed fans in favour of FIFA compensation to migrant workers; incl. comments from FIFA
Amnesty International surveyed over 17,000 people from different countries around the globe, including from many countries whose teams have qualified for the World Cup such as the United States, Spain and the UK, about their stance on FIFA compensating migrant workers who worked on World Cup projects in Qatar. The survey also explored whether these people think their national football associations should speak up about the human rights around the upcoming tournament.
The majority of respondents (73%) were in favour of a FIFA compensation of migrant workers, with the percentage increasing to 84% for those who will watch at least one match of the World Cup. Meanwhile, 67% of respondents believe their national football associations should speak out publicly on the human rights issues.
While the FA reportedly failed to comment on the survey findings for iNews, the outlet has reported supportive comments from a source that "the governing body is behind proposals for any injury or death to be compensated and that a public update would be made in due course"; this information is available in full below. Steve Cockburn of Amnesty International has also welcomed support expressed by English football greats Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer. The Dutch FA, KNVB, has also expressed support for the campaign.

In a response reported in Spanish media FIFA said there are already measures in place to redress workers who faced abuse.
