On 24 February 2021, as workers who produce for Zara (Inditex) called on the fashion giant to issue a statement promising that no workers will be fired for joining anti-coup strikes or demonstrations in Myanmar, military authorities issued warrants for the arrest of eight union leaders of the Confederation of Trade Unions Myanmar (CTUM), including Wai Yan Shine from the Industrial Workers Federation of Myanmar (IWFM). The other union leaders under charge are Ma Soe Lay, Myo Lay, Ma Kyi Kyi Tun, Soe Ko Ko Naing, Ma Swe Swe Khaing, U Myo Myint Saw, and U Myo Han.
