Amazon Web Services did not respond to allegations that the co. is contributing to HART's invasion of privacy and human rights violations
On 14 July 2022, the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Amazon Web Services (AWS) to respond to the allegations contained in the Immigrant Defense Project, Just Futures Law & Mijente report “Hart Attack: How DHS’s massive biometrics database will supercharge surveillance and threaten rights” that by hosting the U.S. Department of Homeland Security´s (DHS) Homeland Advanced Recognition Technology System (HART) AWS is contributing to invasion of privacy and human rights violations against immigrant communities and communities of colour. We also invited AWS to respond to a letter from more than 30 leading human rights organizations calling AWS to end its agreement to host HART. The company did not respond.
