Brazil: Investigation found evidence that JBS bought cattle from deforested farmland in the Amazon; incl. company response
A farm in the state of Mato Grosso, fined for illegal deforestation, would have used JBS transport services to transfer cattle to another property exempt from a fine, and then be sold to the company. Joint investigation by the NGOs Repórter Brasil and The Bureau of Investigative Journalism, and the British newspaper The Guardian found evidence of this practice, known as ‘cattle triangulation’.
