Casino Group response on connection between the company's meat supply and violations of Indigenous peoples' rights and deforestation

...In the report in question there is no evidence or identification that meat from irregular farms was received by the Group's Brazilian operations. Nevertheless, the company informs that it provides a channel for denunciations for all and any possible irregularity in its value chain, which are directed for internal investigation.

The company also reiterates that it acts responsibly and diligently through specific strategies and procurement programs based on traceability criteria, monitoring by satellite images and transparency.

Since 2016, the Group has had a Socio-Environmental Beef Purchasing Policy, updated in 2020, with procedures and criteria for approval of national beef suppliers for all the company's businesses, with specifications for identification of direct origin and requirements for compliance with socio-environmental criteria, which were developed in collaboration with local actors such as NGOs, government agencies and the private sector.

The policy and more information on its monitoring processes can be obtained at the link as well as in the Annual Report 2021...
