Jamaican farm workers sent home early from Canada to be placed on other farms

The five Jamaican farm workers who were sent home early from Canada are to be placed on other farms when the new season begins next January.

The five claimed victimisation after they were sent home on August 8, months before the expiration of their contract.

They were among a group of Jamaican farm workers in Ontario, Canada who stayed off the job for a day to protest poor living conditions.

The Ministry of Labour and Social Security says after investigating the matter, it can confirm that no complaints were filed against the five workers and there were no reports of a breach of contract against them.
