Myanmar: Garment workers face physical & verbal assault at factory

查看所有标签 指控

"Mountain Tree garment workers are physically [assaulted in the] factory", 3 March 2024

The...woman in charge of the factory is very rude....The woman swore at everyone from the sewing workers to the supers. [She] also throw[s] cloth[e]s.

There are around 300 factory workers. There are only around 6 ferries at the factory...to [go home]...it's not convenient...There is no [emplyoment] contract. Overtime [is from] 8 p.m...[to] 11pm. [Workers are forced to work] late at night...In the morning, the workers [must[ return [home] [on their own without transport]..

The interpreter also takes pictures of the workers and makes complaints [to the officials].

OT is called without the consent of the workers. Sometimes on Sundays. Even though they work at the factory for their livelihood, all the workers are afraid to go to work at dawn because they have been swearing since they arrived...
