“Lucky Fortune garment factory violation of labour rights in Myanmar.”, 19 March 2022
The workers reported that the Lucky Fortune garment factory, which produces for ZARA and ONLY, has been violating labour rights…
"There are hundreds of workers who have completed the probationary period, but they have not been offered permanent employment. They are kept as a daily wage worker. The workers on probation are forced to work overtime on Saturdays without being paid overtime fees. If workers do not work overtime on Sundays, the permanent workers are switched into daily labourer status,” said a worker who has faced such exploitation. The factory workers are forced to work overtime and have difficulty obtaining leave provided by the Leaves and Holiday Act. No union has been able to establish to address such violations and demand full workers’ rights. Affected workers call for providing permanent employment status to those who have completed the probationary period, compensation to the daily waged workers' overtime working hours, and to set overtime on Sundays only with the consent of the workers.
