The World Bank is considering providing support for the proposed Nam Theun 2 (NT2) hydroelectric power project, a US$ 1.2 billion, 1,070-megawatt, private-sector hydroelectric project in Lao PDR because of the project's potential for helping Lao PDR obtain revenues to reduce poverty and improve environmental protection.
