Otto Group's response to allegations of abuses in Myanmar garment factories - October 2024 Update
[...]
...we have reviewed the overall situation through ongoing dialog with all stakeholders and have concluded that we cannot meet our duty of care in Myanmar, even with our current setup in the country.
In the Otto Group and its Group companies, we have decided against sourcing goods produced for us in Myanmar in the future. Depending on the specific Group company, we have different implementation statuses due to the diverse structures of cooperation; some business relationships have already been terminated, while others are still in the responsible exit phase.
In this regard, we would like to inform you that we have discontinued all business relations with the factory Jiashihao as of September 2023. As a result, we are unable to provide any further information regarding the allegations mentioned in your letter after this date.
Until the termination of the business relationship, we were in regular contact with the factory and conducted audits. Identified issues were documented in corrective action plans, and the implementation of corrections was monitored at the factory.
The final order was produced in September 2023, and since then, we no longer maintain a business relationship with Jiashihao.
Concerning the factory Su Zhong Garment, please be informed that we do not and have not worked with this facility. Therefore, we are unable to provide any information about the reported allegations.
