Former head of occupational safety department of JSC RUSAL SAYANAL sentenced, 28 February 2024

The Sayanogorsk City Court announced a verdict to the former head of the labor protection, industrial safety and ecology department of JSC Rusal Sayanal...

The investigation accused Mr. Medvedev of receiving monetary compensation from the general director of Vershina LLC from 2020 to 2023 while holding the above-mentioned position for facilitating the conclusion of contracts with the said organization for the supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) for the needs of the plant.

In total, law enforcement officers identified five episodes of criminal activity committed on a significant and large scale, and established that the defendant received almost 500 thousand rubles from the management of Vershina LLC as a commercial bribe.

The court found Medvedev guilty of the charges brought against him (parts 6 and 7 of Article 204 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and sentenced him to 6 years of suspended imprisonment with a probationary period of 3 years.

As an additional punishment, the court imposed a fine of 3,000,000 rubles on the convicted person; the funds frozen in the bank accounts of the accused, in the total amount of just over half a million rubles, were transferred to the state to pay the fine.
