Since 2020, Uzbek Forum for Human Rights (UFHR) and Bankwatch have been monitoring and registering numerous labour rights and freedoms violations by Indorama Agro.

UFHR interviewed dozens of workers and farmers. They reported illegal land confiscations, lack of access to land, mass redundancies, abuses of labour contracts, violations of freedom of association and delayed payments.

Following the interviews, those workers who spoke out were interrogated by security service officials and warned against speaking to “international organizations”.

Besides, violations of health and safety standards resulted in fatal accident in April 2022.

Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Indorama Agro to respond. The response was not provided.
