Indian Tribes Vote Against Vedanta - Opposition to Complicate Company's Bid to Source Cheap Raw Material [Subscription required]

Four Indian tribal village councils Monday voted against London-listed Vedanta Resources PLC's plan to mine bauxite in eastern India's Niyamgiri Hills, complicating the company's bid to supply cheap raw material to its nearby aluminum operations...A Vedanta spokesman declined to comment, saying the matter was being looked at by the courts...[Business & Human Rights Resource Centre also invited Vedanta to comment but it has not responded]
