New Zealand: Construction firm previously cleared of migrant worker abuse allegations in liquidation, leaving staff "in limbo"; incl. comment from Buildhub

New Zealand labour hire firm Buildhub has gone into liquidation, allegedly leaving some migrant staff employed on the accredited employer work visa in limbo. Some are reportedly still waiting to be paid. Buildhub did not respond to an invitation to comment from Stuff NZ.

Earlier in the year, Buildhub posted a statement on its website that Immigration NZ had decided not to pursue charges against it for migrant exploitation after allegations emerged in August 2023 from South American workers of contract substitution, poverty wages and reprisals for workers who discussed work conditions.
