"Sri Lankan workers facing challenges in Jordan, repatriated back to their country", 12 February 2024

For the past few months, Sri Lankan and Indian garment workers in Jordan have been facing challenges due to the shut down of factories and related issues.

Now in the latest development, around 66 Sri Lankans have got some relief as they have returned to the island.

These workers were afflicted after the two apparel factories they were employed at were shut down.

It is worth mentioning here that...the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Amman managed to repatriate 41 Sri Lankans upon receiving their salary dues and social security claims. Around 30 factory workers were earlier re-employed at other garment factories in Jordan with their consent, according to the embassy.
