3000 workers of D'luxe Bags Philippines demands payment of pandemic leave & workplace health & safety
14 November 2020
We have received reports about a COVID-19 outbreak in the D’luxe Bags Philippines, Inc. in Tarlac. Last November 8, more than 200 workers turned positive for COVID-19. The provincial government has already ordered a lockdown of the company and the community around it at Brgy. Talaga to hopefully stop the local transmission.
Around 3,000 workers are affected by this temporary shutdown. Most of the workers are under “no-work-no-pay” scheme and the company does not offer paid pandemic leave or any form of aid for the 2 weeks that they will be losing their income.
The workers are demanding the company for paid pandemic leave and to ensure their health and safety at the workplace. They are also appealing to the local government and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) for financial aid to feed their families during the 2-week lockdown.
D’luxe Bags Philippines manufactures famous luxury bags like Coach, Kate Spade, Michael Kors and Tory Burch.
