Concerns that AkzoNobel Powder Coatings Korea denied workers' right to collective bargaining

On 20 August 2014, IndustriAll reported that AkzoNobel Korea was failing to bargain in good faith with the IndustriAll affiliate Korean Chemical & Textiles Workers’ Federation (KCTF), which had reportedly organized 62 of the 115 employees at the company.  The main concerns for employees included wages, working hours, retirement age, noise levels and industrial disease.  

In its 26 August response sent to Business & Human Rights Resource Centre, AkzoNobel said that it is the company's understanding that the union has "withdrawn allegations that AkzoNobel is in breach of Korean labor legislation," and that dialogue is underway.
