Epicore Biosystem's response to labour rights concerns surrounding heat protection technologies
"With the influx of workplace technology available, we understand that workers' privacy protection is more significant than ever, and are dedicated to ensuring the highest level of privacy for any worker utilizing our technology. Any data captured and shared beyond directly with the workers themselves is completely anonymized population-level data and trends—third-party recipients (e.g., employers, health and safety executives, our company) will never receive or have access to individualized data points. This is critical to upholding workers’ trust and safety and is a unique design feature of our platform.
We also require workers to opt in or opt out of sharing anonymized data through the mobile app with their employer/health and safety executives before any information is available to any parties. Employers cannot collect anonymized data without a worker opting in, and the employer cannot store workers’ data outside the app.
When developing our solution, we interviewed and surveyed several worker groups during early architecture planning to ensure we captured key insights directly from the workers themselves and trialed the solution with several partners for due diligence to ensure data safety before going to market.
To date, our partners have used anonymized population data to optimize break schedules, provide recommendations on rehydration tactics (e.g., water and electrolyte beverages), and create safer environments for their workers. The extreme heat conditions are getting worse due to climate change, and it is thus critical that we provide hydration management solutions that help empower workers, first and foremost.
If you're interested in learning more features/facts about our solution, I’m happy to connect. You can also read about the scientific foundation of our biosensor technology for healthcare and worker applications in the peer-reviewed scientific publications on this page. "
