Human rights impact assessment of the EU Everything But Arms initiative in Cambodia – includes EU response

...The report “Bittersweet Harvest: A Human Rights Impact Assessment of the European Union‘s Everything But Arms Initiative in Cambodia” [by NGOs Equitable Cambodia and Inclusive Development International] finds that, in the absence of effective human rights safeguards, the EU’s policy of granting preferential tariffs to spur investment in LDCs [least developed countries] carries risks of human rights impacts…[which] have materialised in forced evictions and land seizures…Business and Human Rights Resource Centre invited the EU to respond…[Response from the EU provided; refers to American Sugar Refining, Khon Kaen Sugar Industry, KSL Group, L.Y.P. Group, Mitr Phol Sugar, Phnom Penh Sugar, Tate & Lyle Sugars & Ve Wong; company responses and comments included.]
