José Antonio Navas was shot dead in his home in Tibú (Santander) on 29th November 2018. Navas was a member of the Association Peasant of El Catatumbo (Ascamcat) in the municipality of Tibú and of the Veredal committee of El Líbano. Antioquia is the department with the most murders this year and it is highlighted that a large number of them were leading complainants of the environmental effects of the Hidroituango dam.
