Kenya has witnessed widespread protests against proposed taxation measures. In response, the government has deployed police in a violent crackdown resulting in deaths and injuries to protestors. In addition, perceived leaders of the protest have been abducted and internet shutdowns have been reported during periods of the protest. This page keeps track of the business and human rights dimensions of the protests including internet shutdowns, denial of the freedoms of association and expression, as well as positive responses from companies and industry associations.
