Protests in Kenya: Alleged breach of privacy to aid surveillance, denial of access to information & consumer boycott; includes Safaricom's comments
Kenya has witnessed widespread protests against proposed taxation measures. In response, the government has deployed police in a violent crackdown resulting in deaths and injuries to protestors. In addition, perceived leaders of the protest have been abducted and internet shutdowns have been reported during periods of the protest.
