Myanmar: Workers at shoe factory go on hunger strike over wages; Incl. co. response

In June 2023, it was reported that workers at Myanmar Sunny shoe factory went on hunger strike with demands including a wage increase to 5,600 kyats per month, amid rising commodity prices. While the factory agreed to the wage increase, other demands were not met, including the replacement of workers who had left the factory, and calls for an annual salary. Workers also demanded an end to oppression and verbal abuse.

In October 2023, Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Hawkins to respond. The responses can be found below.
