NEC's response

5 April 2021

The NEC Way, the Principles that express the behavior that we value as a company, stipulates “Uncompromising Integrity and Respect for Human Rights,” while the NEC Group Code of Conduct governs the individual conduct of everyone from executives to employees, and clearly requires that human rights be respected in all situations.

In the “NEC Group Human Rights Policy,” NEC commits to promoting initiatives to respect human rights across its entire value chain through dialogue and consultation with its stakeholders and by implementing human rights due diligence. We adhere to strict business practices which are aligned with our human rights policies.

NEC believes that the development of communications infrastructure greatly contributes to economic growth, improvement of quality of life and progress in democratization. After Myanmar's transition to a civilian government, NEC developed communications infrastructure, such as a core optical transmission network connecting several cities and a wireless access network.

Going forward, we will continue to closely monitor the situation in Myanmar and to take the most appropriate actions.

In order to create a more sustainable world where everyone has the chance to reach their full potential, we will engage with all the stakeholders and work with partners who have the same goal.
