Palestine/Israel: International companies supplying weapons to Israel face growing direct action amid calls to governments to enact an arms embargo against Israel
Several companies have been accused of providing arms to the Israeli government currently engaged in a collective punishment campaign against the Palestinian civilian populations in Gaza and the West Bank. A campaign that has killed 12000+ Palestinians in Gaza amid a siege that left them with no access to food, water, electricity or proper telecommunication networks, among other grave human rights violations.
In the midst of these attacks, and despite well-documented and reported grave violations and crimes against the Palestinian population over the years, the supply of arms and military support to Israel from the United States, the largest single provider of military aid to Israel for decades, and from Canada, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom (UK), and the Netherlands, States Parties to the ATT, has continued. In addition, the governments named have been criticized for their lack of transparency and proper impact assessment of their arms export licenses to Israel.
Government's inaction has led to protestors, joined by unions, in multiple countries taking direct action against companies and their subsidiaries that are accused of aiding Israel's assault. In addition to the global solidarity protests, over 130 civil society organizations worldwide have called on governments to enact a two-way arms embargo against Israel.
