Mattel subsidiary, Fisher-Price last week recalled 1.5 million toys amid concerns over excessive levels of lead in their paint. The Chinese made plastic pre-school toys were recalled over safety concerns...The recall was widely reported as an embarrassment for Mattel, which had previously prided itself on its strict quality controls...But reporting of this story was generally poor, over-sensationalised and missed some of the key issues that really ought to have been addressed.
