Response by FMO

"FMO has taken note of the statement of 32 international human-rights focussed NGOs in which FMO is asked to consider taking measures to enhance the protection of Human Rights defenders. Similar comments have been submitted by these organisations in our open public consultation process on the FMO Sustainability Policy and the FMO Position Statements.

FMO is seriously considering the recommendations in the open letter, both in relation to its own Sustainability Policy as well as in relation to FMO’s participation in the Dutch International CSR covenant for the banking sector, to which some of the NGOs that are signatory of the open letter are also party."
