In January 2023, myRepublica reported on two cases of Nepali workers suffering wage theft in Malaysia who were scheduled to be repatriated according to embassy information.

In the first, 13 Nepali workers contracted for PRS Forest Management had not been paid in line with their contracts. The manpower company that had placed them told the Embassy of Nepal in Malaysia they had covered flights, food and accommodation for all 13 workers. The Resource Centre was not able to find working contact information for PRS Forest Management to invite them to respond to the allegations.

In the second case, two workers sent to Malaysia through Khoji Recruitment and employed by poultry supplier Hong Tze Enterprise registered complaints of physical abuse by company officials. The Resource Centre invited both companies to respond to the allegations; the response from Hong Tze Enterprise can be read in full below, Khoji Recruitment did not respond.
