African Union Officials urge China to safeguard rights of African Peoples in business conduct during human rights talks

... buried deep in the African Union’s official readout from the talks was an interesting reference by the AU’s top diplomat for governance and conflict prevention, Patience Zanelie Chiradza, who “emphasized the importance of raising awareness among stakeholders from China and Africa on the work of China on the principles that safeguard the rights of African Peoples, particularly in business conduct.”

No other details were provided, but Chiradza was likely referencing some of the repeated claims of labor rights violations at Chinese companies across Africa that surfaced over the years...
