Sri Lanka: No evidence of toxic 4-Methyylimidazol in Kelani River

Minister of Town Planning and Water Resources Rauff Hakeem informed Parliament...that...there was no evidence of the toxic chemical 4-Methylimidazol of having been released to the waters of the Kelani River. He said the CEA had suspended the licence of the Coca Cola Company on Aug. 21 and it had been reissued on a temporary eco permit so that the government could monitor whether the company followed regulations and guidelines....In respect of compensation paid by the Coca Cola Company, the Minister said that the Water Supply and Drainage Board had been paid Rs. 131,264,300 on Sept. 23, 2015.
