Starbucks sued by Equal Employment Opportunity Commission over firing of disabled woman [USA]
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has sued Starbucks...saying the coffee retailer didn't accommodate the needs of a disabled woman, fired her, and violated the Americans with Disabilities Act...Starbucks knew that Christine Drake had a psychiatric disability when she was hired...[but] the EEOC says that when new management took over the store, [they] "almost immediately began discriminating against Drake...until she was fired."...The suit seeks monetary damages, training on anti-discrimination laws, posting of notices at the work site, "and other injunctive relief," according to the EEOC.
