Three die in oil pipeline fire in southeast Nigeria

At least three people died after an oil pipeline owned by Shell burst into flames in southeastern Nigeria, police said yesterday...Police said they were investigating whether the pipeline burst was because of erosion over time or whether villagers vandalised it to claim compensation...The Nigerian government has directed multinationals producing the country's mainstay crude oil to submit reports on the state of their pipelines many of which are aged as well as their plans to combat oil pollution.
