A leak of contaminated industrial water occurred at the Zangezur Copper Molybdenum Combine, 10 April 2023

The Zangezur Copper and Molybdenum Combine (ZCMC) reported that...an accident had occurred in the tailings system of the plant's processing plant. The cause of the incident was an emergency power outage, which led to a disruption in the operation of the processing plant, including the regulated flow of industrial water through the tailings pipeline.

The press service of the plant reported that contaminated water appeared on the surface in the Kajaran community and spilled along the Kajaran-Meghri section of the M2 highway.

According to the information, after eliminating the leak, company personnel promptly began cleaning up the contaminated area. The company duly notified the Inspection Authority for Nature Protection and Subsoil of Syunik Region about the incident...
