[DOC] Report of the Working Group on the issue of human rights and transnational corporations and other business enterprises

In the present report, submitted pursuant to Human Rights Council resolution 17/4, the Working Group reviews its strategic objectives, activities and outcomes of the past three years and identifies challenges ahead...Significant efforts have been undertaken to implement the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights since their endorsement by the Human Rights Council in 2011...Despite the significant efforts made to implement the Guiding Principles, key challenges remain, including with respect to broadening dissemination, reaching scale in implementation, building trust between stakeholders and overcoming barriers to effective remedy. There is a growing gap between the pace of implementation and the expectations of civil society and affected stakeholders...The Working Group is concerned that the remaining challenges impede progress in the implementation of the Guiding Principles...For that reason, the Working Group urges that attention and efforts towards the implementation of the Guiding Principles be scaled up in order to more effectively prevent and address adverse business-related human rights impacts...
