Statement from Primark

See all tags

Primark has actively engaged with the Cambodian government on numerous occasions both on the Trade Union Law, and in support of a minimum wage review for the garment and textile sector in Cambodia.

Most recently, in March 2016, Primark, as a member of the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) advocated to the Cambodian Government regarding the need for a Trade Union Law fully aligned with ILO Conventions on Freedom of Association and Collective Bargaining. A further letter, sent directly by Primark and other retailers sourcing from Cambodia, was sent in April 2016, again emphasising support for a Trade Union Law in line with ILO Conventions.

This engagement builds upon Primark’s ethical trade programme in Cambodia, both as a partner member of the ILO Better Factories Cambodia programme, and as a founder member of the ACT initiative on living wages, which launched in Cambodia in 2015.
