India: Former workers demand compensation for adverse health impacts due to mercury waste, Hindustan Unilever Limited deny allegations

Former workers of a thermometer factory demand compensation to those persons whose health had been affected because of mercury waste. The workers claim that the company assured to give compensation, but haven’t done so. Hindustan Unilever Limited claim that it did not dump glass waste contaminated with mercury on land behind its factory and that independent studies have confirmed that there were no adverse impacts on the health of employees or the environment.
