Radio Interview: Panguna mine assessment finds levee almost certain to collapse

A new report into the environmental impact of the 50-year old Panguna copper mine on Bougainville Island has found levee collapse is a near certainty, posing a direct threat to both people and infrastructure downstream.

The mine has lain abandoned for more than 30 years, after former owner Rio Tinto left, and the site has never been remediated.
